I found great things at St Ouen, a flea market in the outskirts of Paris. The cardigan is from the

50's and it has this beautiful Petit Prince illustration printed in silk pannels (a treasure!).

I also bought a tiny box of razors from 1946 and one of liquorish (things WERE more beautiful in

the past). And lastly, an original postcard that a man sent to his aunt to wish her a happy new year.

In the back it says: "Bonne Année, Bonne santé de la part de votre neveu J.Z. / 29 rue Anselme, Saint Ouen".

My pictures don't really show how awesome les puces are, but if you saw Midnight in Paris,

it's the flea market where Owen Wilson meets Léa Seydoux :)

Brecht Evens

While I was in Paris I bought "Les Amateurs", an amazing graphic novel by Dutch artist Brecht Evens.
It has become definitely one of the most beautiful and fascinating graphic novels I have ever read, it s impossible not to stare at each page for ages. I m really excited to have discovered the work of Evens and I couldn t resist the urge to share it.
According to Amazon the english version will be released May 22nd, the title is: "The Making Of"

The illustration above kills me, the direct reference to the Unicorn Tapestries from the Netherlands is so charming.

Last week I was hanging out with my friend Anna Lesassier who is a very talented fashion designer. I showed her the fabrics that I screen printed on this last few months. That night our first collaboration started. In a few hours she made a long peachy dress, and simultaneously taught me how to use an industrial sewing machine. I made a couple of scarfs.
We documented the night in polaroids, Anna is wearing the dress in the first on and I m wearing it in the third. It was so much fun, it s crazy seeing designs come to life. Anna is so legit, and savvy and I´m always impressed by everything she makes. I m so lucky I know her!

I went to Van Leeuwen on 7th st and sketched this girl who was reading and drinking tea in
front of me. She was wearing a really nice white pullover sweater.
If you live in New York you should visit the place, they sell artisan ice cream and good coffee.

I have so many cool projects that I want to share. For example, this pattern I designed and had printed on silky fabric. I also did the panties myself, all hand-sewn. I love colorful underwear (although it can be a little embarrassing when going to the laundromat) I hope that in the future I can design a line of panties!

My Senior thesis is inspired by botanical illustrations so I've been drawing plants all semester and playing with imagery. This is not part of my thesis, it's a two color screen print. I love the process of screen printing and the feeling of being in the print shop.

Me desperté sintiendome rarisima y cansada. Pasé la mañana haciendo este patchwork/collage con papeles que tengo. Pero fue tan relajante a la vez. Hoy no me sentía figurativa; a veces cansa. Lo hice escuchando a Junip, lo cual influyó mucho.

I woke up feeling tired and weird. I spent all morning doing this collage/patchwork out of bits of paper. It was relaxing in some weird way. I wasn't feeling too figurative today, it gets tiring sometimes. I did it while listening to Junip, which turned out to be very influential.

I embroidered this Virgin of Guadalupe patch for a project about religion in Freshman year.

I made a new zine, it's more experimental. It's mixed media, and it's obviously about hands. It's full color on nice paper, and if you are interested I am also including a small original drawing with every order. You can get it through my etsy.

Leah ha logrado disociar los hongos del psycho y del mal gusto. por fin! I'm thrilled to own an original garment by Leah Goren (classmate, that I have mentioned before). The first time I saw the fungi pattern I fell in love. Leah has succeeded in dissociating fungi and mushrooms from the awful psycho aesthetic. at last! Fungi deserved it. I think her inspiration was Beatrix Potter (because she did a lot of scientific drawings of them), which makes the concept even better. It's so nice having a garment completely handmade, it's definitely a collectible.

Ayer fui a ver a los Raveonettes en el Music Hall of Williamsburg. Es la segunda vez que los veo en vivo. Es una de las pocas bandas que he seguido de cerca, porque los empezé a escuchar en la epoca en la que te obsesionabas con cualquier cosa buena.

Y ayer fue hermoso. Su nuevo disco es especialmente bueno, perfecto para mi mood ultimamente. Su musica es el sonido de Jesus And Mary Chain mas la sensibilidad de The Ronettes y esas bandas de mujeres. = ♥

Yesterday, I went to see The Raveonettes at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. It's the second time I see them live. It's one of the few bands I follow closely; because I started listening to them at that time where you would obsess over good things you discovered.

And the show was awesome. Their new album is better than ever. Perfect for my mood lately. Their music is basically the sound of Jesus And Mary Chain combined with the sensibility of The Ronettes and those old girl bands. = ♥

Estas fotos fueron tomadas por mi papa en Brooklyn a mediados de los ochentas. Son increibles (el esta muy orgulloso del concepto jeje). Pensar que estos niños ahora son señores con probablemente muchos hijos.

Ya no se le pueden tomar casualmente fotos a los niños, creo que es ilegal o algo.

These pictures were taken in Brooklyn in the mid-eighties by my father. I think they´re amazing (he´s proud of them as well). These kids are now, probably men with many children of their own.

I don´t believe you can casually take pictures of kids nowadays, it´s probably illegal.

Este perrito lo hice para un logo de un "doggy gym" (pff solo en manhattan), era un tarea de rebranding. El negocio se llama "Biscuits and Bath", por eso el gorrito y la galleta.

En plena semana de proyectos finales, y ando muy cafeinada y dispersa. tomé un break para dibujar rapido este sweater que compre en el verano y se me habia olvidado. Es de una Angela's Boutique en 11st y avenue A.

Estoy obsesionada con los stickers, como cuando tenia 6 años y tenia un album. Estos stickers son Japoneses. Los oficinistas y las matrioshkas las compré en la libreria Kinokuniya. soy fan!!

Esta A fue el proyecto final para mi clase de tipografía del semestre pasado. Hasta ahorita le pude tomar fotos decentes. Se nota que era una clase increible no? La idea era construir una letra y personalizarla como en Plaza Sesamo. Fui tan fan de esa tarea!!
